For my husband’s birthday I took him a Japanese restaurant, O-Ku, it is located at West Midtown and headed by Chef Jackie Chang. Before we went, I had heard a lot about the restaurant and as me and my husband love Japanese food, we were super excited to go there! O-Ku offers skyline views of the city, creative sushi rolls, impressively fresh ingredients and cocktails, do you need any more reasons to visit O-Ku Sushi? Chef Chang, who most recently worked as the lead chef of Umi in Buckhead, hopes to blend his traditional training with his innovative takes on the cuisine.
Like the food and beverage menus, the design and decor are a blend of sophisticated and casual, with Japanese elements such as a decorative tile mural, industrial elements including exposed brick walls and steel beams.
Para o aniversário do meu marido, levei ele em um restaurante japonês, o O-Ku, que fica em West Midtown e comandado pelo Chef Jackie Chang. Antes de irmos lá, eu já tinha ouvido falar muito sobre o restaurante e como eu e meu marido adoramos comida japonesa, estávamos super animados para ir conhecer! O-Ku tem um terraço com uma vista incrível da cidade, sushis criativos, ingredientes super frescos e diferentes tipos de coquetéis, você precisa de mais razões para visitar o O-Ku Sushi? O chef Chang, que recentemente trabalhou como chefe do restaurante Umi em Buckhead, espera misturar seu conhecimento na culinária japonesa mais tradicional com uma abordagem mais inovadora.
Como os menus de comidas e bebidas, a decoração tem uma mistura de sofisticado e casual, com elementos japoneses, como um mural de azulejos decorativos, elementos industriais, incluindo paredes de tijolos expostos e vigas de aço.
We wanted to try a lot of different things from the menu so we share everything we ordered. We started with the Big Eye Tuna Tartare ($16) and the Hamachi Carpaccio ($15), both were delicious and super fresh but the carpaccio was the best for us! After, we got some salmon and tuna sashimis ($3/$4 – 2 pc), Salmon Citrus nigiri ($6/pc) and Marmalade nigiri ($5/pc), everything was so good and by eating the sashimis you can definitely see how fresh the fish is! To finish, we ordered some rolls, we got the Marilyn Mon Roll ($12) and the Black Magic ($21). If you are planning to go to O-ku, you should definitely go for the Hamachi Carpaccio and the Black Magic shushi, for us were the best ones we tried! For drinks we got the Hot Sake ($11/little bottle) and the Hibiscus Ginger Tea ($6), the tea is a great option if you don’t want to drink alcohol but you still want something different and delicious.
Queríamos experimentar um pouco de cada coisa do menu, então dividimos tudo o que pedimos. Começamos com o Big Eye Tuna Tartare ($ 16) e o Hamachi Carpaccio ($ 15), ambos estavam delicioso e super frescos, mas o carpaccio foi o melhor para nós! Depois, pedimos alguns sashimis de salmão e atum ($3/$4 – 2 pc), Salmon Citrus nigiri ($6/pc) e Marmelada nigiri ($5/pc), tudo estava muito bom e comendo o sashimis que você definitivamente vê o quanto o peixe é fresco! E no final pedimos os shushi, nós escolhemos o Marilyn Mon Roll ($ 12) e o Black Magic ($ 21). Se você está planejando ir conhecer o O-Ku, você deve pedir com certeza, o Hamachi Carpaccio e o Black Magic shushi, para nós foram os melhores que provamos! Para bebidas, pedimos o Hot Sake ($11/uma garrafinha pequena) e o Hibiscus Ginger Tea ($6), o chá é uma ótima opção se você não quer beber álcool, mas quer algo diferente e gostoso.
We liked the restaurant so much, that we went there another day when our family was in town. If you love Japanese food, O-Ku is a must to go! Great tip, every Monday and Wednesday, all sushi rolls are half price 5-7 p.m.! I hope to see you soon O-Ku!
Nós gostamos tanto do restaurante que já voltamos lá quando a nossa familia estava aqui em Atlanta visitando a gente! Se você gosta de comida japonesa, vá no O-Ku e você não irá se arrepender!
