Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains you’ll find Dahlonega, Georgia. In the early 1800s it became one of the first major sites of the Gold Rush in the United States and ever since then it’s been home to a vibrant local community that has evolved through the years as the University of North Georgia has grown alongside it. It sits a short hour drive from metro Atlanta, making it a popular weekend destination. Dahlonega is known for having lots of local vineyards and picturesque views, it is easy to see why it is the perfect spot for a road trip.

If you are in Atlanta, Dahlonega is an easy 1:30 hour drive (71 mi). Also not too far from Chattanooga, Birmingham and Charlotte.

WHERE TO STAY
We wanted a getaway and a more relaxing atmosphere so we choose to stay at the Dahlonega Resort and Vineyard, where they have an amazing view of the mountains and it’s also the perfect place to relax and enjoy some delicious wines! The hotel is a little far away from the city but they have a restaurant and a spa, and they are also 5 minutes by car from the Kaya Vineyard & Winery, which is definitely a plus! We stay at a regular room but they also have some cabins if you go with more people or want a full house.
A gente queria relaxar e ficar em um lugar mais afastado da cidade, por isso escolhemos ficar no Dahlonega Resort and Vineyard, onde eles têm uma vista incrível das montanhas e também é o lugar perfeito para relaxar e desfrutar vinhos deliciosos! O hotel fica um pouco longe da cidade, mas eles têm um restaurante e um spa, e também está localizado a menos de 5 minutos de carro do Kaya Vineyard & Winery, o que é maravilhoso! Ficamos em um quarto na casa principal deles, mas você também pode alugar uma das cabins, principalmente se você for em mais pessoas ou quiser uma casa só para você.

WALK AROUND DOWNTOWN DAHLONEGA
Walk trough the Dahlonega’s historic public square, where you can find restaurants, local wines and unique retail stores, it is a super cute and charming city!
Caminhe pelo centro de Dahlonega, onde você pode encontrar restaurantes, vinhos locais e lojas diferentes, é uma cidade super fofa e charmosa!
GO TO THE VINEYARDS
That’s definitely the reason why we went to Dahlonega, they have tons of wineries there. This time we went to the Kaya Vineyard & Winery that was super close to our hotel but we also went once to the Yonah Mountain Vineyard, both have amazing wine, great views and outdoor seating areas, I totally recommend both of them!
Essa é a principal razão porque fomos para Dahlonega, eles têm várias vinícolas por lá. Desta vez, fomos na Kaya Vineyard & Winery, que ficava super perto do nosso hotel, mas nós também já fomos na Yonah Mountain Vineyard, as duas vinícolas têm vinhos super gostosos, vistas lindas e áreas ao ar livre para sentar, eu super recomendo as duas!
DO A PIECE OF THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL
Hike to the view-packed summit of Preachers Rock on the Appalachian Trail, climbing from beautiful trailhead views at North Georgia’s Woody Gap. It’s not an easy trail but the view at the Preachers Rock is breath taking and totally worth it!
