Healthy Lunch at Upbeet

A couple weeks ago I started hearing and seeing a lot of photos on Instagram about Upbeet, it is a restaurant that offers organic grain bowls, salads, acai, smoothies and toasts. I was really curious to know the place, so me and my husband went there to get lunch. The restaurant was full with a big line to order because you can also customize your bowl or choose one of their suggestions, although it was a line, it really moved fast and all the people working there were really nice and give you a lot of suggestions.

I end up choosing the Aloha Bowl ($11.95), that was with bamboo rice, mango, fresh jalapeños, scallions, avocado, toasted coconut, macadamia nuts, ginger miso dressing and tuna poke, I just changed the jalapeños for edamame because I don’t really like spicy foods. The mix was so good and all the tastes went so well together, definitely recommend this bowl.

My husband ordered the Oh-Mega Bowl ($13.45), with brown rice, quinoa, spinach, edamame, watermelon radish, cashews, hemp seeds, orange miso dressing and steelhead trout, this bowl was really fresh and also delicious.

To drink we had the juice refreshers (each $3.50), that have four options, the strawberry watermelon basil, charcoal lemonade, lime cucumber mint and matcha lemonade, we tried the three first and I was so impressed by the charcoal lemonade, the appearance is not the most inviting one but the taste is surprising good!

I definitely recommend checking out Upbeet and I can’t wait to go there again and try need bowls and smoothies!

Trip to San Francisco

This summer I went on a trip to San Francisco with my husband and his family, we stayed there for a week and we got time to visit a lot of places and eat in some great restaurants! We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Hotel which is close to Union Square, it was a great location with lots of shops and restaurants.  Now I am going to put a list and tips of what to do and where to eat in the city.

What to Do

Since we had a week there we did a lot of things but I am going to suggest the top 5 things you can’t miss while visiting San Francisco:

1.Go to Golden Gate Bridge: or you can walk or bike across, it is one of the most famous bridges in the world and the view of the city is just incredible from there, but sometimes the fog is so strong that you cannot see anything, so before you go, check how it is. And wear a jacket, this is the best advice I can give you, it is really windy there.

2.Ride a cable car: OK, few locals ride cable cars, but it is part of a San Francisco experience, everyone should do it at least once. We went during school vacations so the city was really full and it wasn’t that easy to get on a cable car, you need to be very patient, and a tip, don’t count on cable cars to be your main way of transportation, it can be really frustrating.

3.Drive down the Lombard Street: is one of the most unique vertically curvy street and is a great stop to add to any itinerary, you can either walk or ride down the street.  On the top of the Lombard Street is one of the most beautiful views of the city with the sea and the houses there are all so charming (poor people that lives there!).

4.Day trip to Napa Valley: if you are going to be in San Francisco for more than 3 days you should definitely go to a vineyard in Napa, it is 1h40 minutes ride but it is so worth it. We went to the Starling Vineyards, that was a recommendation of our hotel and it was great, we did some wine tasting and a visit to the vineyard and in the end you can enjoy your last wine with the most amazing view of the place.

5.Do the audio tour in Alcatraz: it really is much cooler than you think. Once home to some of America’s most notorious criminals, the federal penitentiary that operated here from 1934 to 1963 brought a dark mystique to “The Rock”, you can do an audio tour through all the prison narrated by ex-guards and ex-prisoners telling you the history of the island and its the most beautiful view of San Francisco.

Where to Eat

Here is a list of some restaurants that we went that I really like, some in San Francisco and in other close cities:

1.The Franciscan: located at the pier 43, has the most beautiful view of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. It is a restaurant specializing in crab and has great sea food. For appetizer, we ordered the Iron Skillet Rosted with mussels, shrimp and crab, and our main course was the famous crab and clam chowder on the bread bowl.

2.È Tutto Qua!: a real Italian restaurant, the staff are really welcome and the food is great! Everyone on the table ordered pizza, for me the best pizza flavor was the Italiana with prosciutto, arugula, fresh mozzarella and shaved parmesan.

3.Hakkasan: located on the second floor of the iconic One Kearny building in downtown San Francisco, it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. All the dishes are to share so everybody on the table can eat a little bit of everything, we ordered hakka organic pork belly, baked lamb chop, spicy prawn and three-style mushroom. The food was delicious and the decor is really cool.

4.The Spinnaker: only a minute’s drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, in Sausalito is The Spinnaker. The restaurant has a floor to ceiling glass walls with a view of San Francisco skyline, Sausalito Waterfront, Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge. There you can appreciate a delicious sea food with an amazing view!

5.Cascal: if you are going to visit Apple and Google you should definitely stop at Mountain View and have lunch at Cascal. The restaurant concept is to mix the traditional Spanish food with the warm hospitality of Latin America. The decor is so pretty and the food is amazing, we ordered fried olives, beef empanadas, braised pork belly, wild mushroom empanadas (one of the best things I ate in my life, really!) and Peruvian ceviche for the whole table.

The design of this brush is just so minimal and cute, I loved it! It is contour brush, it is perfect for highlighting and contouring. The quality of the brush is good and it is the perfect size.

ipsy 4

First Aid Beauty – Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser – 1.0oz Value $5.10 (Full-Size 4.7oz $24.00)

My skin is oily and after using this deep cleanser my face felt so refreshed and soft, the only thing I didn’t like was the smell of it, but I’m easily annoyed by smells when it comes to products that I use on my face.

Seraphine Botanicals – Ginger + Gold Frosting Blush – Full-Size Value $14.00

I love to try new blushes and I was super excited when I saw that I got this one.  The color is beautiful, it has a pretty glow and it is great for summer and a natural look.

theBalm Voyage Vol. II Eyeshadow – Willkomen – 0.021 oz Value $2 (Palette $39.50)

This eyeshadow is highly pigmented and the color is in bettween copper and brown, it has a good amount of sparkle. Just thought that the sample was a bit too small.

Steve Laurant – Precision Tip Liner – Black – couldn’t find the sized to see the value (Full-Size $24.00)

I just use pens liner, for me it is much easier to apply than the regular ones. I loved this product just starting on the rose gold packaging and it went on very smoothly and it was well pigmented.

This box value was $36.00 without the Steve Laurant liner, which is a really good value for a $10 bag, I got full-size items and good-sized samples, so I am really happy. I cannot wait for the next Ipsy Glam Bag!

All about my wedding – Wedding Dress

Let’s say that choosing your wedding dress is the hardest part of the whole planning, of course the venue, food, drinks and everything is important, but you, as the bride, need to fell the most beautiful woman on earth on your big day.

When I started looking at dresses I already knew what I liked and what I didn’t, but sometimes you really like some clothes but it didn’t show your best features, so the best thing to do is to go to a bride dresses store and try all types, shapes even the ones you think you don’t like, you can be surprised!

The first store that I visited had a lot of stunning dresses, it was pricy but was good to see how I looked in different kinds of dresses. I really liked some dresses that I tried but all of them had something that I wanted to change, I didn’t think that I found the dress yet.

I think that I had in my mind something so clear of what I wanted, that none of the dresses would satisfy me completely. I went to some others stores to see if I would find what I was looking for but in the end, I decided to have my dream dress tailored by a fashion designer, Valdir Nicolau.

I just had two and a half months to get my dress, that really made me nervous, what if would not be ready on time, or not be how I really wanted, but after talking to Valdir and looking at the drawing of my dress, he made me fell more confident and that he would do his best to be exactly what I wanted.

Because I had so limit time to do my dress I had to try it almost every week to see how it was going, if it would need to be adjusted or if I wanted to have something changed. During all the process, I changed a couple of things and in the end, it  turned out to be even better than the dress I was dreaming of.

My new favorite: Micellar Water

Micellar water has been gaining popularity over the past few years and to me, by far is the best makeup remover to use on your everyday. But what exactly is the micellar water and what it does to the skin?

Micellar water gets its name from the science behind the product, it is made of “micelles” (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in water. It is a perfect blend of multi-vitamins and skin loving ingredients. It is a great option to leave the skin always clean and to remove the basics makeup, such as blush, a light foundation, concealer and lipstick, the makeup would come off nicely and doesn’t leave the skin oily or sticky but it really boosts the skin’s hydration.

You can use it whenever you need to clean your skin and it also could be a great addition to your morning cleansing routine, always applying a small amount of micellar water in a cotton pad and gently apply to you face.

Interested in giving micellar water a try? I picked my 5 favorites, all of them are really easy to find and with a great price.

1. Vichy 2. L’Oreal 3. Garnier 4. La Roche-Posay 5.Bioderma

All about my wedding – Wedding Venue

Today I am going to tell you a little bit about my engagement, the planning of my wedding and of course choosing the wedding venue.

Me and my husband are together since the beginning of 2011, by the year of 2014, he got a job opportunity in the Netherlands, so he moved and I stayed in Brazil but we kept a long-distance relationship. On the New Year’s Eve of 2017 he surprised me with the most beautiful words, a gorgeous ring and we got engaged. We didn’t want to stay apart anymore, we planned our wedding for April of the same year, it was a really short engagement, little time and a lot to do until the wedding.

The first thing we decided was that we wanted a small wedding, just with the most important people of our lifes and that we were going to get married in our hometown, São Paulo. That was the kick off to choose the wedding venue, we started looking for places that did mini/small weddings for maximum of 150 guests, we checked several places on the internet and we really loved one place, the Espaço Quintal, so we scheduled a visit there.

Just as we entered, we fell in love with the venue, the things that we wanted fit perfectly in the Espaço Quintal, we wanted the ceremony in the same place of the reception. They had a beautiful space outside, an indoors dancefloor and we could fit our 150 guests. We didn’t want a traditional and formal wedding and this venue had a lot of special details. It was perfect for us!

We wanted our wedding in such a short time, specifically in April, we didn’t have a lot of choices on the week day, we ended up booking the venue for a Sunday afternoon.

It was perfect, the weather on our big day was sunny, but not too warm and with a beautiful sky. The wedding venue looked even more gorgeous with the decor that we choose, the white flowers and every little detail was just perfect.
